Eurovox Upgrade Information

Eurovox Upgrade Information
We are pleased to annouince that the new Eurovox Upgrade to Kuro 3 (10-4-2008) is now available. This upgrade will remove the 'Please wait, code being updated...' message and you will not need to enter any codes. The upgrade also updates the program guide, automatically sorts your channels into favorites and improves the tuner performance. This upgrade is for the Eurovox Max V, it is not suitable for the older silver 2006 & 2007 models.
You have three options:
Option 1
Do-It-Yourself
This option will involve you upgrading the software on your Eurovox, it is a simple process but please do not attempt it if you do not fully understand the instructions below, option 2 or 3 will be better if you at all unsure . Please make sure that your box is genuine before you start as upgrading as clone boxes will be damaged by the upgrade. If you purchased your box from The Cable Box Shop then it will be genuine but beware that many of the boxes sold on eBay and the Internet are clones (clone = cheap chinese copy, not an original).
Option 2
Return to Base
This option involves returning your box to us for the software upgrade. There is a charge of £20 (Ireland 40 Euro) to cover the upgrade and this includes the return postage, additional boxes can be returned at the same time and will be upgraded for £10 (Ireland 20 Euro) each, so if your friends or family have boxes you can save money by returning several boxes at once. The boxes do not need to have been purchased from us, we are happy to help where possible but regret that we cannot upgrade clones. If you do return a clone to us then it will be returned as received. If you would like this option then please send an email to upgrade@cableboxshop.com and you will receive instructions for returning your Eurovox.
Option 3
Eurovox Upgrade Kit
This option is a do-it-yourself upgrade with a comprehensive DVD video guide and complete with all cables, USB and null modem, and the software to perform the upgrade. This is suitable for a novice as the DVD guides you through the whole process (takes about 5 minutes) and technical support is available. You will need a computer with a USB port and the upgrade can be applied to many boxes, so you can use this option to upgrade boxes for friends and family without having to return them. You will also be equipped to perform any further upgrades should they be necessary at no further expense. The upgrade kit is £30 (Ireland 40 Euro) including delivery,

- Download the software update from Rapidshare,
- Connect one end of a null model cable to your PC and the other end to your Eurovox.
- Power up your Eurovox so that it is in standby.
- Run the application and click on the large 'Download' button. If a message saying 'System reset' does not disappear after 30 seconds then unplug your Eurovox, wait 10 seconds and power it up again.
- A message box will appear saying 'Sending' when it gets to 100% it will start writing the software into your box. When it has finished you will see a 'Download is successful' message.
- The upgrade is now complete.

New Eurovox software released 10-04-2008
Here is the news you've all been waiting for, a software update for the Eurovox Max V 2008 has been released to remove the 'Please wait, code being updated...' message for good.
This new software released late on Thursday is currently undergoing testing and we will be sending a newsletter on Friday with various upgrade options.
If you are technically savvy and want to have a go at testing the new software yourself then it is available at:

Please can we remind you not to call for codes or for instructions on how to update your box. Full instructions will be included in the next newsletter. We are trying to resume technical support for customers with genuine problems but are getting flooded with requests for codes, please stop, we can't give out codes by telephone or email.
Do not attempt to install this update if you think your box may be a clone, if you purchased your box from us, The Cable Box Shop, then it will be genuine but many of the boxes sold on the Internet and especially eBay are clones and will be damaged by this update.
Starview boxes have not been affected by the recent changes and continue to operate as normal. If you are interested in purchasing a Starview 3 then please visit the cable shop.
